20th annual Mining Indaba conference, world’s largest mining event, held from 3 to 6 February 2014 in Cape Town, South Africa with attendance of about 2500 participants from 600 mining and mining industries companies, according data
Given to importance of the global event, a delegation from Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) including CEO and a number of directors and experts represented in this conference and visited the exhibition and had discussions with senior mining officials of hosting country and other countries in sideline of the gathering.
Iranian delegation attended sessions and keynotes related to mines and mining industries sector, future of world economy and financial and monetary issues. 
They had also a meeting with mines minister of Namibia, looking for expanding the mining cooperation. One of the main purposes for attending this event was to obtain approval of organisers for hosting Asia Mining global conference. To this end, there were some discussions and Iranian delegation gave explanations about importance of Iran in region and new environment of country for attracting foreign investors. Considering the explanations, the organisers are set to come to Iran in order to organize holding the event in Tehran or Kish Island.
During 3 days of gathering, Iranian delegation had discussions with global mining giants including South Africa’s Mintek, Tenova, Rio Tinto, Harvest Resources and IDC … and presented capabilities and mining potentials of Iran for attracting investment from biggest global mining corporations and announced readiness for accepting investment in areas as below:
- Preparing a roadmap for steel production chain from start of exploration operation to define exploitable mines and immediate processing
- Using the capabilities of mining corporations in comprehensive exploring plan 200/00 km
- Use of modern methods in mining operation chain from exploration to processing particularly in extraction and exploitation of deep reserves of metal ores
- Maximum use of potentials of Karaj Processing Research Center with partnership of foreign corporations
- Exploration and studying possibility of processing rare minerals
